ABOUT THE SHOW: THE COLOR PURPLE is an inspiring family saga that tells the unforgettable story of a woman who, through love, finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world.
This musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel (and the popular 1985 Steven Spielberg film) spotlights Celie, a downtrodden young woman whose personal awakening over the course of 40 years forms the arc of this epic story.
With a joyous score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel, African music and blues, THE COLOR PURPLE is a story of hope, a testament to the healing power of love and a celebration of life. With a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, THE COLOR PURPLE premiered at the Alliance Theatre Company in Atlanta, Georgia and opened on Broadway on November 1, 2005. It was nominated for eleven 2006 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book, and Best Original Score.

ABOUT THE SHOW: It’s 9a.m., and the bar is open: that means a scotch omelet for retiree Mick, bracing for the arrival of his priggish son, Bradley, intent on stopping dad from marrying loopy Val and squandering what little remains of the family fortune. Rubbernecking on their way to an annual dose of familial homophobia are squabbling lesbians Sharon and Kate. Even the (married) bartenders have issues: Jenny has the hots for Caleb, who just happens to be the brother of her husband, Daniel. Ah, love. Preppy Kate counsels Jenny to stick to her vows: “There’s a reason you two have been together for years.” Jenny: “Yeah, low standards.”

ABOUT THE SHOW: THE SANTALAND DIARIES is a brilliant evocation of what a slacker's Christmas must feel like. Out of work, our slacker decides to become a Macy's elf during the holiday crunch. At first the job is simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa's workshop, he becomes battle weary and bitter. Taking consolation in the fact that some of the other elves were television extras on One Life to Live, he grins and bears it, occasionally taking out his frustrations on the children and parents alike. The piece ends with yet another Santa being ushered into the workshop, but this one is different from the lecherous or drunken ones with whom he has had to work. This Santa actually seems to care about and love the children who come to see him, startling our hero into an uncharacteristic moment of goodwill just before his employment runs out.
This is our 10th anniversary of The Santaland Diaries. Past Crumpets include: Michael Granberry, Steve Vernon, Cullen Moss, Sam Robison, Justin Smith, Jason Hatfield, Jon Stafford, Michael Brady, and Zach Hanner.

ABOUT THE SHOW: It's the early 1990s, the Northern Ireland peace process is taking its faltering first steps, and INLA man Mad Padraic is hard at work pulling out the toenails of Belfast drug pusher James, when the news comes through that his beloved cat, Wee Thomas, is poorly. So instead of slicing off James's right nipple, as planned, he heads back home to the island of Inishmore. But when he arrives at the family home, he discovers that Wee Thomas isn't sick, but has had his brains squeezed out like toothpaste. Padraic, a man considered too mad for the IRA and sorely trying the patience of his INLA comrades, is intent on revenge, even if that means wiping out his own father. Just as he's about to put a bullet through Dad's head, there's an unexpected knock at the door. The plot is set in 1993 on the island of Inishmore, County Galway, Ireland
